Sunday night...

sunday eveing...after a day of rest, a few naps, watching the rain fall, we just came back from dinner with gisi and her freind jutta. jutta is an aid development worker, and is going to mozambique next week, for 3 years. that's quite a commitment. don't know if i'd be willing to take something like that on. i admire people who can.
went for a walk after dinner, then gisi and jutta went to have a drink at the egon, the local bar.

it's real intersesting meeting all these people over here. such a different culture. people tend to generalise about different nationalities, stereotype, and some of it is true, but what i've picked up is more subtle. when you live among the people day to day you get an deeper connection to the rythyms of other culture. i must admit, it taken a litle time to lose my stateside manner, especially the new york part. there's a laid back attitude that is very seductive, just the pace of life. and i know this in the south usa also, but it's a bit different. people are so calm here, no horns blaring, loud talking, noise....everything is softer.

looking forward to paris on tuesday, the train ride itself is going to be a blast. the weather forecast is for rain the days we're there ´but the weather changes every 15 min here.
doesn't matter, i'm sure paris will look wonderful in any light.
tomorrow is open, don't know what we'll do..pack at some point. we have to take a train from here to karlsrue to catch the tgv ( tay ja vay, as they say)..to paris. one hour from here. then 2 and a half to paris.

my son aidan, and his bandmates played a gig last night at don hills in the west village. i'm sorry i missed it, but i did get to see a clip on youtube a freind posted. it's so much fun watching him play, i'm so glad he loves music and playing. it's one of the proudest feelings i have about him.
baby joel will be one on the 18th, mary's gonna have a party for him. i hope someone shoots some video, please. for those of you who have not met him, he is one happy baby. always smiling. and so very cute. i know, i sound like a grandpa, and i guess thats true and it's a great blessing.

gonna wach some germantv now and see if i can understand what the hell thier saying.
see ya later.
